Panola Women’s Basketball opened Region XIV conference play at home Saturday with a tough loss to No. 16 Trinity Valley, as a strong start wasn’t enough to overcome a decisive second quarter by the visitors.

The Fillies came out with energy and focus early, setting the tone in the opening quarter. However, Trinity Valley gained momentum in the second period, outscoring Panola 19–7 to create separation going into halftime. Despite the deficit, the Fillies showed resilience, fighting back and pulling within six points on multiple occasions in the second half. Each time Panola threatened, Trinity Valley answered, and the Fillies ultimately came up short.

Conference play continues on the road as Panola travels to Paris on January 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
