Panola Fillies Drop Two Close Contests in Opening Weekend

The Panola College Fillies women’s basketball team opened their 2025 season with two hard-fought battles but came up just short in both contests over the weekend.

In their season opener, the Fillies fell to Grayson College, 52–49, in a down-to-the-wire thriller. Panola led by as many as 11 points in the second half before Grayson mounted a late comeback to steal the win in the closing minutes. Despite the loss, the Fillies showed promise on both ends of the floor, with strong defensive pressure and balanced scoring throughout the lineup.

The following day, Panola faced Collin College and dropped a 69–61 decision. The Fillies again displayed grit and energy, keeping the game close until the final stretch. Though unable to secure a victory, the weekend provided valuable experience for the young squad as they continue to build chemistry and refine their game early in the season.

The Fillies will look to bounce back as they return him for the Mary Ann Otwell Classic November 7th & 8th.
