Panola men go 2-0 in Region 14 play this week
Carthage, Texas ? The Panola College men?s basketball team defeated Kilgore College and Bossier Parrish Community College this week. The two wins elevate Panola?s record to 14-8 and 7-5 in region play. ?This team has begun to mature.? Head Coach Grant McMillan stated. ?We are starting to handle the ups and downs of a ball game the right way, handling adversity. It showed the previous two games.? He added.
On Wednesday night against Kilgore College, Panola found themselves down by nine at halftime, 21-30. It took all the way to the 15 second mark remaining in the game for the Ponies to take the lead. Marlon Taylor was fouled on dunk and made his free throw to take a 57-56 lead. After Kilgore went 1-1 from the free throw line to tie the game, Jeremy Roscoe was fouled with 1.1 seconds remaining. Roscoe made one-free throw to seal the victory.
Saturday afternoon, Panola traveled to Bossier Parish Community College. After being down by 14, 26-12, the Ponies went on a monster run to end the half to tie the game at 30. Panola continued its offensive outburst which eventually saw them up 64-50 in the second half. The Ponies won 71-59.
Panola continues Region 14 play this upcoming Wednesday, February 7th when the host Paris College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM on the campus of Panola College.
